The exhibition, prepared and premiered in Moscow’s Centre of Contemporary Arts M’ARS in November 2005, concerned war as a permanent feature of the contemporary world. This topic, for obvious reasons, is not popular, though it constantly resides in the subconscious of every society. The curators of the exhibition had no intention of encouraging the artists to adopt an unambiguous
position on the topic; it was rather about exploring reality from a variety of points of view. The subjects of the presented works were arms as the tools of violence, and the artist as the creative individual, able to analyse the often surprising, obscure and illogic turbulences of history and political life.
