Kucia Jerzy
The screenwriter and director of animated films, producer, pedagogue, graphic artist and painter was born in 1942 in Sołtysy near Wieluń. In 1967 he graduated from the Faculty of Painting and Graphics of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. He also studied at the Workshop of Film Drawings at the same college. He headed this department since 1981. He has been involved with the Studio of Animated Films in Kraków since 1970.
 
As a creator of animated films he debuted in 1972 with the film Return. Since 1992 has also produced his own films. He is a member of Association Internationale du Film d'Animation (ASIFA), he was vice-chairman of this organization in the years 1994-97. He leads the annual International Animated Film Workshop in Kraków. He lectured at many film schools for instance in Vancouver, London or Mumbai. As a graphic artist he participated in many exhibitions including the International Graphic Art Biennale in Kraków. Jerzy Kucia also realizes short advertising forms on commission from MTV or the festival in Oberhausen amongst others.

Spring (1980)
- Source (1982), combined techniques, written together with Ewa Gołogórska. A sunny interior of a room filled with luxuriant vegetation. Outside the birds are flying. Water spills from a jar standing on a table. The liquid returns to the jar after a brief moment, but the vessel is to small to hold the fluid.
