Unbreakable. A few stories about famous castaways and the literary works and artworks they inspired. Highwaymen, scholars, lovers, traitors… The lecture will focus on several characters who have one thing in common: they either survived a disaster at sea or being stranded on a desert island, and their stories stirred the imagination of writers and painters alike. These include the “true” Robinson Crusoe, a converted debauchee from Demon Island, an Indian woman from the Island of Blue Dolphins and an Italian marquis, to whom Gdańsk owes a lot.
