„Close Stranger” most of all is a research project that allows for collective analysis of current social and political change in the relations between Poles, Lithuanians and Russians. This objective was pursued through artistic expeditions, projects in public space, artistic residencies, publications, exchange of exhibitions, presentations and discussions. Each project partner has contributed to the image of the territory so that it is readable for others. The aim was to build a permanent thread of communication between our cities (Gdansk, Kaliningrad and Klaipeda) and countries (Poland, Russia and Lithuania) and examine the extent to which we can share our knowledge and skills for common creativity. Current political events, difficult to predict at the initiation of the project at the beginning of 2013, made the subject become even more relevant and interesting.

The final presentation will provide an opportunity for discussion titled "Art in times of conflict," which will be attended by representatives of the project partners as well as invited guests, involved in the affairs of cultural cooperation in Eastern Europe. It will include promotion of publications issued under the project, screening of the documentary and concert of artists who participated in the Sound Around Festival.

The project "Close stranger: the promotion of mutual understanding between the peoples of Gdansk, Kaliningrad and Klaipeda by allowing the exchange in the field of contemporary art and culture" is co-financed by the European Union under the ENPI Cross-border cooperation Programme Lithuania-Poland-Russia 2007-2013.
