The meeting will pay tribute to artist Wojciech Zamiara whose activity includes video art, performance and multimedia installations. He spent a couple of years running a gallery at Mózg Club in Bydgoszcz and co-founded Wieża Ciśnień (Water Tower) Gallery in Bydgoszcz. At present, he teaches at the Academy of Fine Art in Gdańsk. The showcase will include Zamiara’s videos from the last 20 years. They all share aesthetic minimalism, subtle humour and the use of paradox. Above all, however, it is essential to see how the artist interprets his own self, a topic he challenges in videos and (video-recorded) performance art. Applying simple means of expression and absurdity, he strips down the rituals and signs of daily life, teasing the viewers and involving them into emotional and intellectual play.
