Art&Science Meeting Project invite to a music event. 

Brian Labycz and Gerard Lebik met in Chicago in October 2012. They played their first gig together accompanied by Jiro Yamaguchi Susumu and Hiroyuki Ura in the Flying Teapot club in Tokyo during Labycza’s last tour of Japan. The Labycz/Lebik Duo is a mix of electro acoustic improvised music, crossed with EIA and experimental free improvisation. This will be Labycz’s first visit to Poland. The musicians plan to perform together as a duo, as well as to expand their line-up to include invited musicians from the cities in which they will be performing. All concerts during the tour will be recorded and released on Zopan Records and the Chicago-based Peira label.

 

 

Brian Labycz is a Chicago-based improviser, who composes and performs experimental electronic music. Presently, he performs on a modular synthesizer, but he also uses a number of other sound sources, including acoustic instruments, digital manipulating, field recordings, and self-made devices to explore various forms of expression. He performs both as a soloist and with various groups of improvisational and experimental musicians from the Chicago and Japanese scenes. He is the organiser of the Myopic Improvised Music Series and the Protest Series at Heaven Gallery in Chicago. He is also the founder of the experimental Peira label.

Gerard Lebik creates sound and music by means of improvisation, musical notation, and manipulation of audio material using acoustic and electronic media. His tools and techniques include: saxophones, contra-alto clarinet, acoustic wave generators, electro-acoustic objects, video feedback, and software. In 2007, he graduated from the Wrocław Academy of Music. Beginning with classical music and, later, jazz and free improvisation, he moved on to electronic music, experimental sound art and noise. He has collaborated or performed with Eryck Abecassis, Kazuhisa Uchihashi, Rob Mazurek, Keith Rowe, Hernani Faustino, Gabriel Ferrnandini, Noritaka Tanaka, Bettina Wenzel, hans in koch, and Joker Nies.
