Christian Kobi, Saxophone / Bálint Bolcsó, Electronics
Music in a field of tension between live saxophone sounds produced acoustically and electronically generated sounds – in a constant change between static musical spaces and flowing sequences.
Christian Kobi – studied music at the University of Music in Basel focusing on the classic saxophone. He also studied in Paris, Lucerne and Zurich. He had numerous appearances at home and abroad, solo and together with various improvised music ensembles. Since 2003 he is the founder and artistic director of “zoom in”, a festival for improvised music at Berne Minster, which he founded in 2004. He has also been a member of the saxophone quartet “Konus Quartett” since 2003. In 2006 he co-founded the new music label “CUBUS RECORDS”.
Bálint Bolcsó – studied composition at the Liszt University of Music in Budapest. He also studied in Vienna, Hannover and Cologne. He writes vocal, instrumental and electroacoustic pieces, radio plays, sound installations as well as applied music for film, dance and theatre. He often uses live electronics both in composed and in improvised music. He performs regularly as an improvising musician, using self-made and programmed instruments. He teaches at Liszt University of Music in Budapest, and at the University of Pécs.
