The Conductor is a 45-minute audiovisual performance by Dariusz Makaruk. The project combines emotions, instinct and symbolism. The performer is on stage by himself, without stage design or instruments. The visualization and music are made by the movement and gestures of the artist. His performance is an attempt to find a new language of communicating with the audience – through illusion. The Conductor concentrates on contemporary life, self-consciousness, and ways of perceiving the world. Here music and sound mixing covers a spectrum ranging from an orchestra and harmonious melodies, to noise and dark ambient. Makaruk’s improvised movements of generate the video and music immediately, allowing for an entirely intuitive and human way of controlling multimedia content.
