Performer, painter, musician and poet. He has performed, among others, at the Manhattan Gallery in Łódź, the International Castle of Imagination Performance Festival, at the Gdańsk Shipyard (at Kolonia Artystów and Modelarnia), as well as at Mózg in Bydgoszcz. He has given performances in Toruń, Kraków and Warsaw, to name a few. The artist’s paintings have been presented in Olsztyn, Gdańsk and Inowrocław. His experimental photograph hung in Sukiennice [Cloth Hall] in Kraków. He has published poetry in “Portret”, “Kurier nadbałtycki” and “Luz” magazines.
Jakub Bielawski’s concert will be a kind of musical performance, consisting in combining experimental sounds with the realm of video. Both the films and the music date from 2003 – 2013. The sounds which belong to the area which is open to experimentation and the world of the spiritual realm connect the author’s fascinations to music, art, words, the world of mystical experiences and all that is different, unusual and not banal.
Bielawski’s music is often based on combining sounds that contrast with each other - musical dissonances.
Bielawski likes to surprise and to combine mismatched forms of sound with each other. He is fascinated by subtlety and lightness. He often tries to create his music intuitively, easily avoiding templates and conventions. The artist has worked together with Adam Witkowski, Marek Rogulski. He is inspired, among others, by Tony Conrad, Angus Maclise, and Stockhausen, but also ethnic sounds and rock reggae.
