40 years old by now, the history of interactive art created on digital basis comprises issues varied both structurally and thematically. However, it is now possible to point out certain repeating types of artworks and relevant interactive strategies. Ryszard Kluszczyński will make an attempt at characterising the phenomenon of interactive art itself, locate it in the context of contemporary art history, and, above all, propose a typology of interactive art. The lecture will be illustrated by numerous examples and documentations of works of interactive art.

Ryszard Kluszczyński is a critic and theorist of film and new media art, curator and university lecturer. For years now, Professor of Łódź University at the Department of Electronic Media, and also at the Faculty of Visual Education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, and at the Department of Multimedia Communication at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań. He specializes in issues of information and network society, cyberculture, new media art, contemporary theory of art, alternative (avantgarde) art and art criticism. Member of jury at international media art events, author of numerous essays, frequent contributor to art magazines.
