It’s been several decades that collective memory and the way authorities use it has drawn attention of scholars of humanities. What do we know today about remembering
collectively and what still remains a mystery? Is it even possible to remember something that has never happened? How and why do we forget? Answers to these and other questions suggest that it is our idea about how the future should be that determines the way we remember the past. What this paradoxical conclusion reveals is the fact that the knowledge about laws and ambushes of collective memory can be a ruling apparatus as well as a salvation from the aforementioned paradigm.
