Sense of humor is one of the distinctive features of Dave Ball`s work: the artist is interested in nonsense, its ability to create ruptures in reality and, paradoxically, to reveal its sense. In his work, Ball consistently shifts borders, transgressing accepted rules in typically discreet and amusing ways. However, destabilising rationality isn`t the only goal of the artist. By introducing these ruptures to reality he is able to analyze the contemporary urban environment, highlighting its not-easily-visible threats to individual freedom. Ball asks what kind of behavior our surroundings extort on us and what kind of sense does it implicate.
