Prouvost Laure
French artist, author of numerous works exhibited locally and internationally, lives and works in London. In her work Prouvost combines experimental film, collage and installation, exploring – with help of modern technology – human relationship with the past. Prouvost decodes the connection between language and understanding, using conventional, well-known narrative narrator, to disappoint viewer's expectations by including themes unimportant to the plot and surrealist themes.
She studied filmmaking at Central Saint Martins and Goldsmiths University of London and worked as an assistant to John Latham, a conceptual artist known for exploring the boundaries between science and art. She exhibited in Tate Britain, Frankfurt Portikusie, Extra City Kunsthal in Antwerp and the National Center for Contemporary Art in Moscow. Winner of the MaxMara Women's Biennial in 2011 in cooperation with the Whitechapel Gallery. She took first place at the 56th and 57th Oberhausen Film Festival. In 2013 Prouvost obtained the Turner Prize for the film installation “Wantee”.
