Wojciech Benicewicz is a Polish audiovisual artist, designer and publisher. Co-founder and artdirector of Okultura Publishing. He has been involved with many musical projects, such as Inire, The Embryonal Position and Suture Navigator. Since 1995, his video works have been shown at many festivals and shows such as The WRO Media Art Biennale, the Festival Visiual Forms Intermediale, Wroclaw Industrial Festival, Rytuał Recesja-Retorsje-Bang, Hamburg Artgenda Festival, Re: Independent Visions Art Invasion or Videoprzestrzenie BWA. In his solo works he alludes to musical minimalism and serialism, while drawing on the achievements of contemporary electronica and IDM.
INIRE was founded in the spring of 2001. The band line-up changes depending on the realised projects. Krzysztof Pawlik is the initiator and main animator of INIRE. So far Małgorzata Dancewicz, Karolina Kozakiewicz, Grażyna K. Kaczmarek, Mirosław Rajkowski and Wojciech Benicewicz participated in INIRE projects. The band combines philosophical and anthropological searches with audio-visual means of expression. INIRE re-interprets already well established in historical, literary and cultural traditions contents giving them new meanings. INIRE is not an artistic creation explaining the classic but rather searching for individual experience of the myth, based on the borderline of electroacoustic music, video art and audio-visual performance.
