New York-based electroacoustic composer and songwriter Hannis Brown is earning a reputation for a unique compositional voice which pulls from such disparate influences as concert composers Bela Bartok and Penderecki, jazz great Charles Mingus, and new wave heros Talking Heads. His music marries lush vocal harmonies with explosions of free jazz, found-sound percussion, lo-fi electronics, and microtonal tunings to achieve a powerful and unsettling psychological impact. Hannis Brown's music has premiered at numerous international film festivals as well as Hollywood's Academy of Arts and Sciences, The Romanian Cultural Center of the United Nations, the Brooklyn Academy of Music and at numerous DIY spaces and art galleries around New York City.
