At first sight, packaging belongs to the category of objects, called ‘objects of the lowest rank’ by Tadeusz Kantor. Frequently, it is an instrumental object, which protects and promotes something that is more significant – a product and whose destiny is a bin. That first sight, which is most important in the case of packaging, is often misleading because it not only expresses the idea of contemporary consumption but also redefines the social meaning of human material world and our relations with objects.
