Antanas Jasenka

Antanas Jasenka started his creative career as a composer writing concert pieces for traditional instruments. However, his electronic and electro-acoustic music is now much more on demand. It is intense, dynamic and multilayered, populated with diverse electronic sound objects - from glitch to soundscape (as in his multimedia release Boarding Pass). The composer is often found involved in collective sound projects and interdisciplinary collaborations with various sound, visual artists and writers. Antanas Jasenka has several successful releases on international record labels. He has presented radio programs on electronic music, and designed sound environments for theatre productions. Since autumn 2008 he is a member of the experimental project Diissc Orchestra, where his partners are other well-known composers and electronic music producers Martynas Bialobžeskis, Jonas Jurkūnas, Vytautas V. Jurgutis and Arūnas Zujus.

DIISSC ORCHESTRA
audio-visual live group

Soon after its founding in 2008, the DIISSC Orchestra has been invited to appear at all major Lithuanian contemporary music festivals. The Orchestra’s unique architecture – four composers Jonas Jurkūnas, Antanas Jasenka, Martynas Bialobžeskis,  Vytautas V. Jurgutis and video artist Vaclovas Nevčesauskas  – enables it to to play their own compositions and that of world-reknowned composers, produce live videos, present compositions involving a variety of disc players, stopwatches, special graphic scores, and low-tech devices. No laptop supremacy, no meaningful staring at a monitor. Performers perform! The DIISSC Orchestra presents contemporary music as an engaging sonic adventure with unforseen outcomes on stage. They make you feel as though you’re listening to contemporary electronic music in a rock concert atmosphere.

The Orchestra’s first album “D.O.” was recognised as the Best Electroacoustic Work 2008 at the Lithuanian Composers’ Union’s Awards.
