Andrea Neumann

Andrea Neumann studied piano in Berlin. Since 1996, her activities in the field of improvisation and composition have been shown in the sphere of new and experimental music. Examining new sound possibilities of the piano she reduces the instrument to just the strings, resonance board and metal frame. She uses electronics to manipulate and amplify the sound and as a consequence, has developed numerous new playing techniques and ways of modifying a dismantled instrument. On a day-to-day basis, she works mainly with musicians from Berlin. She composes music for inter-disciplinary projects, such as film, dance or performance. Andrea Neumann has given concerts in Europe, the USA and Japan.
