Anna Zielińska – violin

The main purpose of ElectromAnia is to familiarize the audience with the sound of the violin contrasted with electronic sounds. The project is based on the works of composers who intended their violin compositions to be accompanied by electric sounds or solo violin. The repertoire of ElectromAnia covers compositions by both the youngest generation of Polish and foreign composers and works of other well known Polish and foreign musicians. The current repertoire of the ElectromAnia project contains several pieces. A few of them were composed specially for the purpose of this project, some were played for the first time in Poland. The pieces are played in different configurations according to the needs of particular concerts. The project is open to new composers’ proposals.

The ElectromAnia project has been developed with the financial help of the Polish Ministry of Culture.

Anna Zielińska (born 1977 in Poznan, Poland) is a graduate of the Musical Academy in Poznan. She gives concerts as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestra member. She played in Bayerische Rundfunk Orchesterakademie conducted by Mścisław Rostropowicz in 2000. She played in the orchestra of the Easter Festival in Bayreuth in April 2002.  In summer 2002, she qualified to the Jeunesses Musicales Word Orchestra as the only Polish musician taking part in Asia (2002) and Germany (2002/2003). Within the last two years she has performed as a member of RIAS (Deutsche Radio) Jugendorchester and in 2001 she was co-winner of the “FAMA” Grand Prix Festival in Świnoujście for the spectacle “Breaking the seals” (“Otwieranie pieczęci”). She plays improvised music as well. In 2001 she won a scholarship with the German group “MusicFabrik” and participated in the improvisation workshops of Earle Brown in Heek. She has often co-operated with Izabella Gustowska, for example in Barcelona during the Polish art presentation (part of the Polish Year in Spain programme). She cooperates with the actors Janusz Stolarski and Tadeusz Wierzbicki and the “Phenomena Laboratory” (“Laboratorium Zjawisk”) creating improvised music from various sound sources. This year she began a series of concerts entitled “ElectromAnia” promoting violin/electro-acoustic music covering pre-performances of Polish and foreign pieces. She became was awarded a scholarship for young artists by the Polish Ministry of Culture in June 2004.
