Ignaz Schick (adapters, turntables, electronic devices) Berlin/Germany
Xavier Charles is a clarinettist who graduated from the High Music School of Verdun. However, his actual works are a far cry from his classical background and contain more electroacoustic rustles and sounds. Charles is a leading exponent of new improvised music in France and he has cooperated with such musicians as: Jacques Di Donato, Frederic Le Junter, Axel Dörner, Jérôme Jeanmart, John Butcher, Jean Pallandre, Marc Pichelin, Chris Cutler, Martine Altenburger, Camel Zékri, Emmanuelle Pellegrini, Martin Tetrault, Pierre Berthet, Michel Donédaand and Frédéric Blondy.
Xavier Charles is co-author and organizer of “Densités” – the famous festival of new improvised music.
Ignaz Shick initially played on alto saxophone, simultaneously experimenting with analogue sampling methods and multi-track recordings. From 1992 to 1995 he was cooperating with another composer of new music, J.A. Riedl, who acted as his assistant and fellow musician at a few productions and festivals. He is involved mainly in electronic music and solo live-electronic projects. He has also cooperated with Don Cherry.
