Phill Niblock (1933) is an intermedial artist specializing in indistinct sound and instrumental microtones that are converted/processed/ by generators. His works were performed in The Museum of Modern Art, The Wadsworth Atheneum, The Kitchen, Palais de Beaux Arts in Brussels, the Institut of Contemporary Art in London, Akademie der Kunste in Berlin and ZKM in Karlsruhe. He became the director of the Experimental Intermedia Foundation in New York in 1985. Since 1993, he has been a member of the legendary organization, Experimental Intermedia in Belgium.

Thomas Ankersmit records his music solo but he performs his projects together with musicians such as Takehisa Kosugi, Alvin Lucier, Phil Niblock, Kevin Drumm, Jim O’Rourke, Taku Sugimoto, Gert-Jan, Prins, Hugh Davies and Axel Dorner. His music shows the influences of experimental and electro acoustic music. He is one of the most important representatives of post minimalism. Ankersmit’s installations have been presented in galleries and museums in Amsterdam, Berlin, Köln, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Osaka.
