Exhibition of Michał Sikorski, a graduate from the Sopot Photography Schools Hejber (2006), author of photographic creations which he himself calls Urban Absurd. These are series of a couple or a dozen or so photographs, cohesive as far as contents and form are considered. They present funny situations in urban locations. The photographs are not a documentary, though, they are creations carefully planned before being carried out, presenting the reality as if in a distortion mirror. Urban Absurd is, first and foremost, a subjective commentary on the reality, conceived by the author in the form of a pastiche or parody.
The presented group of photographs entitled Gourmand is the third one of the series in the convention of Urban Absurd. The photographs criticize the consumer lifestyle, where the quantity does not necessarily mean quality. Overeating, gluttony and surfeit are notions which best convey the idea of the project.
