The exhibition concluded the residency of the artists in Laznia. Its starting point was the diagram designed by the artists, under the title what? by what?. It constituted a kind of scientific tool which could be used as a part of a painting education programme. Topics and problems connected with both the painterly language and the artistic ideas were systematically arranged into a diagram. Randomly chosen couples of notions served as a sort of task to be solved by the artists individually. The project had an analytic and self-defining character, focused on various levels of the painterly code.
