‘The Sea Awaits Your Return’ is an installation consisting of new works by the duo of Erwin Van Doorn and Inge Nabuurs. The artists created an original stage design within which they present 8 photographs of Disco Mori, which are a contemporary take on traditional Dutch Memento Mori, 8 allegorical film Portraits, and a collection of fetish objects related to the theme. The exhibition, beginning at the end of the carnival period, invokes the historical tradition of the relationship between Gdansk and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and presents a symbolic image of a post-colonial world where the old art, science, philosophy and poetry create, together with popular culture, a sophisticated and grotesque hybrid. It is a unique opportunity to take a fascinating journey into the depths of time and the depths of one’s own soul, and to find a path to a brighter future within the gloomy interior of carrus navalis, just on the threshold of spring.
