STREETWAVES is an event involving mostly local artists in actions supporting Gdańsk’s quarters and nooks. The action’s goal is to celebrate of topographic, architectural, acoustic and artistic potential of each of the parttaking neighbourhoods of Gdańsk during a two-day long festivity. Through introducing the elements of art, music, performance, and social actions, the organizers aim to reach as many local people as possible and make them interested with both art as such and the history of their quarters.
On 22 & 23 May 2010, STREETWAVES will flood the following areas of Gdańsk: Oliwa, Strzyża, Wrzeszcz Dolny, Wrzeszcz Górny, Aniołki, Stocznia/Shipyard, Gdańsk Główny/the Main Town, and the Lower Town.
Organizers: City Hall of Gdańsk, Laznia Centre for Contemporary Art, the Baltic Sea Culture Centre (NCK), the Office of the European Capital of Culture 2016 Gdańsk Metropolis (Candidate).
