Today we can distinguish at least three types of relations between the city and art.: 1) City regarded as a social work of art; 2) City as a privileged subject of artistic culture, especially literature, fine arts, photography, film, performance and theatre, which is the cause for the formation of images of the city, functioning later – as if it was a derivative – in social consciousness; 3) Various forms of art create their own images of the city, urbanization and urban culture, which are most often critical towards real urban spaces and the strategy of life of their inhabitants. Thus formulating postulates aimed at every user of urban spaces and changing hierarchies of existing cultures.
