Curator: Agnieszka Kulazińska

Works of Marzena Turek-Gaś can be classified as a representation of Extended Painting style.

Even though it can be called developing painting tendency, term Extended Painting isn’t still very popular in Poland, (there was separate exhibition under this subject on the Prague Biennale in 2005). In Poland video-painting expression is much more in use, although it is controversial and is narrowing area of exploration only to the relation between those two aspects of art. Marzena Turek Gaś in her actions and installations is extending notion of painting, involving in her creation process the whole space of the gallery and the audience. Artist is using materials like haberdashery tapes, wind, wadding, powder coating and polystyrene foam, but starting point for her action, installation is painting.

It can be changed into painting action – picture painted at night in the Warsaw Palace of Culture and Science by using roller-skates; painting space objects composed of color tapes, opened for the interaction with the spectators (Chili Blood); paintings made by using artist’s body and powder coating pigments.
