A global art project that unites people diagnosed with cancer
INVITATION
For you who have just been diagnosed with cancer.
- Would you like to take part in GLOBE ROPE – a great international art project that unites people diagnosed with cancer across the world?
- Would you like to help create publicity about the challenges, both physical and mental, that people with cancer face every day?
- Would you like to be part of a project that furthers strong and positive global networks whatever the social, political, cultural, and religious differences may be?
I am an artist and have had breast cancer. I have been through chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and I know what it is like to live with this illness from the inside.
GLOBE ROPE is a collective art project. It is my intention to gather hair that has been donated from people with cancer across the world, and to create one long, strong, global rope – that symbolise vitality, unity, loss and hope.
The project is non-commercial. The aim of the project is to create publicity, inspire, and stimulate debate and reflection.

- Are you considering having your hair cut off before you lose it?
- Would you like to donate your hair to the international collective strong, global rope?
If so, you will not lose your hair completely: it will be saved as part of a significant and powerful work of art.
If you have not been diagnosed with cancer, but know someone who has, please pass on this invitation.

Once your hair has been cut, please fasten both ends with elastic bands, and put it in a plastic bag.
The hair needs to be clean and no less than 10 centimetres long.
Please fill in and attach a registration form to the outside of the bag. The form can be picked up at some salons, downloaded from the web or be made by your self, writing: date, gender, age and state/country.
